Information Overload

Welcome to the second edition of my newsletter! I know this is a bit late, but life has been incredibly busy for me lately. I've been immersed in attending conferences, undergoing interviews, and delving into research for grad school. Yes, I've made the decision to return to grad school to finish my MPA program.

Wish me luck!

🖥️ Tech of the Week

The Rabbit R1 is a new kind of AI assistant that just came out in 2024. It's not quite a smartphone, but it can do a lot of the things a smartphone can do. Here's the interesting part: it doesn't actually have any apps.

Instead, the Rabbit R1 uses a special kind of AI to control the apps that are already on your phone. You tell it what you want to do, like order an Uber or play music, and it uses your phone's apps to make it happen.

Here are some of the key things to know about the Rabbit R1:

  • It's small and portable, designed to fit in the palm of your hand.

  • It has a touchscreen, a speaker, and a camera.

  • It uses voice commands, so you can tell it what to do instead of tapping on a screen.

  • It works with a variety of popular apps, including things like YouTube Music, Amazon, and Uber.

Right now, the Rabbit R1 is generating a lot of buzz because it's a new way to interact with technology.

To celebrate the occasion, the company released a 30-second commercial showcasing diverse women of color as part of the "China Fenty Fam," modeling the Fenty Beauty line.

With the expansion into skincare and the Chinese market, Rihanna is poised to grow her $1.4 billion net worth significantly over the next year.

📌 In Case You Missed It

Millions Missing, Ohtani in the Middle: Gambling or Theft? Los Angeles Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani is facing a major curveball. Accusations linked him to illegal sports betting, but Ohtani denies any involvement.

The drama centers around Ippei Mizuhara, Ohtani's former translator. Reports suggests Mizuhara gambled big, potentially with Ohtani's money. Ohtani, however, accuses Mizuhara of swindling him for a whopping $4.5 million.

The Major League Baseball and the IRS are on the case, digging for answers. Ohtani insists on his innocence (of course he would!), but a cloud hangs over the situation.

A Postscript Afterthought

New York City has amended its right-to-shelter law through a court settlement, permitting the denial of housing to adult migrants in certain cases. This modification follows discussions between city lawyers and the Legal Aid Society, prompted by Mayor Adams' request to suspend shelter protections for single adult migrants.

Under the settlement, single adult migrants can only occupy shelter beds for 30 days before reapplying, with exceptions made for extenuating circumstances or disabilities.
