Maybe: And Then It Made Sense

Welcome to the newest edition of my newsletter! I’ve made quite a few changes here, starting with the name. What was formerly “And Then It Made Sense” is now the "Brief Clarity" newsletter — still carefully curated. I've decided to do an overhaul to the layout of my newsletter so that I’m able to share my insights on a myriad of interesting topics that I come across throughout the week.

I hope these updates offer a more engaging and visually appealing experience.

🖥️ Tech of the Week

Google Pixel 8 Pro (Bay)

The rapid evolution of smartphones continues to astound consumers, and Google's Pixel lineup stands at the forefront of this progress. The Google Pixel 8 Pro, an extraordinary device, has captured the attention of smartphone enthusiasts (that’s me, I’m one of the many enthusiasts) with its exceptional features. As a proud owner of the previous model, the Pixel 7 Pro, I was nothing short of excited to upgrade to Google’s newest flagship phone.

The Pixel 8 Pro brings a potent blend of cutting-edge camera capabilities, a sleek design, impressive performance, and AI-driven features that elevate the user experience, solidifying its position as a standout choice in the fiercely competitive smartphone market.

By far, my favorite smartphone right now.

RapCaviar Presents:

Spotify and Hulu teamed up to drop RapCaviar Presents, a six-part docuseries that focuses on community issues like social media bullying, body shaming, and challenging hyper-masculine norms through the lens of notable artists like Tyler, the Creator, City Girls, Roddy Ricch, Polo G, and Coi Leray.

I strongly suggest checking it out if you haven’t done so already.

📌 In Case You Missed It

The US House of Representatives voted decisively in favor of a bill that may pave the way for a nationwide ban on TikTok, posing a significant hurdle for one of the globe's leading social media platforms. Under this bill, TikTok could be barred from US app stores unless its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, sells the platform to an American entity.

In a recent video posted to TikTok, CEO Shou Zi Chew said:

“We will not stop fighting and advocating for you. We will continue to do all we can, including exercising our legal rights to protect this amazing platform that we have built with you. We believe we can overcome this together.”

Advocates for the bill argue that it seeks to mitigate national security threats linked to ByteDance, asserting that the company may potentially share sensitive data from American users with the Chinese government. In contrast, TikTok has refuted claims of posing national security risks, a stance reiterated by Chew in his TikTok video.
